Isle of Axholme Summer Walking Festival 2017 – Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September
Whether it’s a family amble, an informative trek or a riverside stroll, there’s a walking route for everyone in the Isle of Axholme. Join in and learn all about many different aspects of the Isle’s rich history and diverse landscapes. Walks will be led by knowledgeable guides, who can teach you much more about the history, wildlife and geology of the local area.

WALKING INFORMATION
Walking requires physical exertion. Some walks will take place on the moors which can be uneven, wet and at times an arduous task. We strongly advise if you have any medical conditions you should discuss this with your Doctor prior to you attending any walk.
If you are planning to join a walk here are a few things you need to know and consider before turning up.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult
- Wear appropriate footwear. You will need stout shoes/walking boots or wellingtons.
- Wear appropriate outdoor clothing.
- Be prepared, walking requires physical exertion. Do not attempt to walk long distances if unsure.
- If on the moors; there are many old peat workings, drains and watercourses. You are strongly advised to keep to marked walls and existing tracks. Snakes live here. Do not touch them or invade their space.
- Please take responsibility for your own safety.
- Take care in urban areas watching out for traffic and sticking to pedestrianized routes.
- In hot weather, bring a sun hat, drinking water and insect repellent.
- Do not leave valuables in car.
- Danger deep water. No Swimming
- Follow the Countryside Code of Conduct:
Ø Be safe, plan ahead and follow the signs
Ø Leave gates and property as you find them.
Ø Protect plants and animals and take your litter home.
Ø Keep dogs under effective control
Ø Consider other people.
