Accessibility

We are committed to making this website accessible to as many people as possible. Compliance with web accessibility is an ongoing process which we are regularly working to improve.

If you experience problems accessing any of the information on this website, please contact us and we will try our best to fix the problem or provide the information in an alternative format.

Languages & translation

The site includes the Google Translate tool, a multilingual service provided by Google Inc. to translate written text from one language into another. There is a language selection widget in the footer, at the bottom of every page:-

Clicking on the arrows opens a list of languages. Choose anyone of the 90 languages to see the text on the site translated. Note this function does not translate documents or text included in images.

Downloadable files

Files have been made available to download in a variety of formats – the most common are Adobe Acrobat (.pdf), Microsoft Word (.doc and .docx) and Microsoft Excel (.xls and .xlsx). Reasonable adjustments have been made to ensure that digital publications available on our website are accessible. We have done this by creating tagged PDFs and all images should have a caption or alt text. If you need any document in a different format, please contact us.

You may need to download Adobe Reader to view files in PDF format or download Microsoft viewer software to view Word, Excel or PowerPoint files. The latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader has incorporated accessibility features. For example, you can hear a PDF document read aloud or scroll a PDF document automatically. You can access these features in the Edit Preferences menu. Find out more about the free Adobe online conversion tool which converts the content of PDF files to a HTML or text which can be understood by most screen reader applications.

Accessibility limitations

Due to certain constraints, we have had to include technologies and features that may cause accessibility issues. These include:-

  • Adobe PDF downloadable documents
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint downloadable documents
  • Google Maps (third party map application)
  • YouTube (third party video application)
  • Vimeo

We are making reasonable efforts to overcome these limitations by improving their accessibility and failing that, providing accessible alternatives. If you need alternative versions to our downloadable documents (such as plain text or large print) or if you experience any accessibility problems with our site, please contact us.
