A 3-part course welcome to all. Learn how flax was processed and turned into rope, sackcloth and linen. Use our Isle grown retted flax to have a go! The workshops will be led by Archaeobotantist, Liz Pearson. The sessions are bookable through the eventbrite links. It is best to attend all 3 sessions.

What you’ll be doing:
Using flax yarn we’ll set up small piece of card weaving to practice plain tabby weaving, using a weaving needle. Then we’ll move on to weaving a slightly larger piece on either card, a picture frame loom or twig loom, depending on your preference. We’ll use a small ruler to create a single heddle to raise up alternate threads and create a space to pass your weft thread through your weaving.
We’ll also jointly weave a piece on a table-top size loom where we can set up a string heddle, then jointly weave on this loom.
Please bring your own lunch. Tea/coffee will be available.
