This will be a joint event to mark the opening of the NEW Humberhead Peatlands National Nature Reserve, Reserve Base and LIFE Lab along with the launch of the upcoming project Neolithic Trackway Through Time.
Using the help and support from the local community and volunteers the Trackway Through Time project aims to build a reconstruction of the Late Neolithic Lindholme trackway and platform. Dated to 2900-2500BC, the trackway and platform is nearly 5,000 years old. It is the earliest known corduroy trackway in Britain. The trackway lies within Hatfield Moors SSSI. The site is included in the Humberhead Peatlands National Nature Reserve. For more information about the Reserve visit www.humberheadpeatlands.org.uk
Visitors can experience life during the Stone Age in this one-off event. Visitors can join in and have a go at tasks such as flint knapping, arrow making and even visit a Neolithic supermarket to see what foods were available to early farmers.
The event is being held at Hatfield Moors, Boston Park (off the A614), DN7 6DS. Car parking is available on site. Open to visitors from 10:30am to 3pm. Admission to the event, workshops and activities are all free.
