Riveting work on the eastern bank of the River Trent at Owston Ferry looking north on 28th March 1935. The riverbank needed constant attention to prevent erosion and to allow ships to get close to the shore.
Throughout the 1800’s Steam Packets ran daily along the River Trent from Gainsborough to Hull. They transported passengers as well as cargo. The River Trent is still used for cargo transportation as well as leisure although boats are less likely to stop at the smaller villages in the Isle of Axholme.
