This image shows Nethergate in Westwoodside. It shows Goodburn Row with the Doctors motor tricycle on the left side of the image. The village pump can also be seen in the background on the left. Historically Westwoodside is a combination of the hamlets of Park, Newbigg, Nethergate, Upperthorpe and Commonside. These names still exist today. Annually the village of Westwoodside takes part in the Haxey Hood. Participants attempt to get a leather hood to one of the pubs in either Haxey or Westwoodside. Whichever village it ends up at is declared the winner.
