This is the south front of Beltoft House, Belton Road in Beltoft. It was taken in 1987 as part of its grade II listed building survey. It is believed to have been built in the 18th Century or possibly earlier. It has been altered and refronted in the early 19th Century for John Collinson. When John died he left his estate to his sister Lucy Ann Collinson and after her death to his niece Hannah Lucy Ann Collinson to hold until her death or marriage. It would then pass to his nephew John William Snowden Collinson. John W. S. Collinson had a son, also called John who was a British officer and governor of the Kassala district in Sudan. He served in the Zulu War, the First Boer War and participated with the Egyptian Army in the Dongola Campaign and the Atbara Campaign. At the Battle of Omdurman he commanded the 4th Brigade of the Egyptian Army. For his services he was named Companion of the Order of the Bath.
