This Saturday join us at Hatfield Moors for the opening of the Late Neolithic Lindholme Trackway and Platform Reconstruction

The Lindholme Neolithic trackway and platform was first identified in 2004 and was investigated archaeologically in 2004-2006. A community of builders formed and built a replica of this monument on Hatfield Moors.

OPENING CEREMONY – 12:00 to 12:30

Experimental wood working – 11:15 to 12:00 & 13:45 to 14:30 – Join Mark Griffiths for this unique wood working experience. Learn what it takes to build a trackway using Stone Age tools. Meet @ trackway reconstruction site

Stone Age Food – 10.30 to 11:15 & 14:45 to 15.30 – Join Dr Penny Bickle from the University of York for Neolithic cheese making. Meet behind the Education Centre

Talking Trackways – 12:30 & 13:15 – Chat with trackway archaeologists Dr Ben Gearey and Dr Henry Chapman @ trackway reconstruction site

Stone Age replica items and activities with NNR team @ trackway reconstruction site and in the Education Centre

Ancient Crafts – all day – Discover the Neolithic with the UK’s most accurate and popular travelling display by James Dilley’s Ancient Craft. You can watch crafts like flintknapping (making stone tools), have a go at polishing a stone axe or grinding some Neolithic grain (Einkorn) @ trackway reconstruction site

Coring with Natural England – 13:00 – Explore the layers of peat with the NNR team. Meet @ trackway reconstruction site

Guided walk setting off from car park – 14:00 – Find out more about this special reserve from NNR volunteers and staff

Neolithic story telling with Addy Farmer – 14:00 – Join Addy for this family story telling event. Walk, make music, poetry and create artworks whilst exploring the site & trackway. Meet @ Boston Car Park
